Singers Making a Difference

CHRISTINE ALLISON - MUSICAL DIRECTOR AND FOUNDER

Christine Allison, director, began to see a dream unfolding with A Chorus for a Cause. She is a native of Alliance and a member of a musical family. Christine graduated from Mount Union College with Bachelors in Music Education and Vocal Performance. Her formal education continued at the University of Akron and is kept current by attending workshops and conventions.

For over 35 years, Christine has been directing community and church choirs. With A Chorus for a Cause, she has directed the chorus primarily for “a cause,” but also at such occasions as chorus member’s weddings, First Fridays, and at the community 10 year memorial of 9/11. She is a member of Chorus America and American Choral Director's Association. Christine continues to teach private voice lessons to singers from 12 – 87.

Because of her passion for singing, Christine started children’s choirs in a church position she held for 28 years. She also has directed the Children’s and Youth Choirs of VOCI. The Board of A Chorus for a Cause voted in August of 2011 to have her start all new Children’s and Youth Choirs of ACFAC. It is exciting to A Chorus for a Cause to have these youthful singers become part of our singing family and the unfolding dream.

Christine started directing bells in 1983 with youth, then adults and later formed a chime choir for younger ringers. She was awarded a scholarship and studied with American Guild of English Handbell Ringers. She later became a clinician for handbell workshops and a consultant to church bell choirs. She returned to Mount Union College to teach Handbell class/choir and directed BelVOCI, an auditioned community bell choir. She is a member of Handbell Musicians of America. The Board of ACFAC also asked that she start Harmony Ringers. It is her goal to have Harmony Ringers become "Raleigh Ringers" of this area! www.rr.org

Whether it be with voices or bells, We are one voice, we will not be silent…We have one life, one choice, one hope. We are one voice!
